The Agricultural University of Athens (AUA), founded in 1920, stands as the 3rd oldest university in Greece and has been consistently dedicated to the advancement of the Greek and European primary sector. AUA plays a pivotal role in Greek agricultural applied and fundamental research, contributing to 33% of the agricultural research efforts. The Smart Farming Technology Group (SFTGroup), under the auspices of the Department of Natural Resource Management and Agricultural Engineering, coordinated by Professor Spyros Fountas, serves as a representative entity of AUA, participating in more than 30 EU projects. With disciplines expanding in Artificial Intelligence, IoT, image processing, robotics, and ICT, the SFTGroup holds a distinguished track record in spearheading innovative initiatives in the realm of agricultural technology and research.
