ARVALIS INSTITUT DU VEGETAL (ARVALIS) is France’s largest applied agricultural research institute and the leading specialist in arable crops. Its mission is to gather knowledge and introduce innovations that will benefit straw cereal growers (bread wheat, durum wheat, barley, triticale, rye, oats, rice, etc.), corn (grain, seeds, sweetcorn), sorghum, potatoes, fodder, fibre flax, tobacco, and related economic sectors.
Created by specialized farmer associations and the sectors that finance it, ARVALIS contributes to developing the production of quality cereals and food and non-food raw materials for local, national and international markets. In total independence, ARVALIS puts its expertise at the service of the emergence of agroecological production systems combining economic, social, environmental and health performance.
Role in the project:
ARVALIS will be the leader of the French Sustainable Innovation Pilot 8 (SIP8) on arable crops (maize and wheat). ARVALIS will engage 2 medium-sized farms (100ha) to evaluate Fartmtopia partner CarbonBee’s targeted weed spraying technology. ARVALIS will also contribute to the assessment of the multi-criteria performance (technical, environmental, economic) of pilot trials and to the knowledge transfer through its networks.
