ITC Murska Sobota

ITC Murska Sobota (ITC) is a non-profit Business Support Organization located in the North-Eastern part of Slovenia, with a vision to foster cross-sectoral innovation and implementation of novel technologies and ICT in rural-based sectors.

It aims to bring together target groups (such as SMEs, food system actors, farmers and other rural actors) and turn them into ‘’Smart’’. That will create a unique Europe-wide innovation-based eco-system, supporting the shift towards more resilient, healthy, and (environmentally, socially, economically) sustainable rural areas.

It is operated by a group of interdisciplinary professionals, having strong international references, network of institutions and extensive experience in conducting EU funded projects and other projects focused on rural development.

Role in the project:

To optimise production, reduce fertilisation costs and support food resilience, ITC will be closely collaborating with the public advisors from the Institute of Agriculture and Forestry Murska Sobota (IAF). It will engage 5 farmers from Eastern Slovenia with the average parcel size ~3 ha to co-create, pilot and demonstrate the Smart farming/Decision support system solution. Ten additional farmers will additionally use services at a later stage. ITC will also engage a farm in Ukraine through the European DIH network it manages. In the future, ITC will leverage its relationship with the Slovenian national farm advisory service, especially in South-East European countries with similar public advisory systems.
