Strengthening Digital Innovation in Agriculture: Farmtopia and QuantiFarm Join Forces

Farmtopia and QuantiFarm

Farmtopia and QuantiFarm have launched a strategic collaboration to strengthen the adoption, assessment, and credibility of digital solutions in European agriculture. By aligning their activities, the two Horizon Europe projects support farmers, advisors, and policymakers with practical, evidence-based insights on how digital technologies perform at farm level and under real operating conditions.

The collaboration focuses on turning on-farm experience into measurable evidence that can guide investment decisions, advisory services, and policy design.

QuantiFarm: Measuring the Impact of Digital Farming Solutions

QuantiFarm is a Horizon Europe project dedicated to quantifying the economic, environmental, and social impacts of digital agriculture and technology solutions (DATS). Through large-scale case studies on commercial farms across Europe, the project evaluates how digital tools affect productivity, costs, sustainability indicators, and farmers’ decision-making in real-life conditions.

To support informed choices, QuantiFarm translates complex data into:

  • Clear performance indicators
  • Comparable benchmarks across farm types and regions
  • Practical assessment frameworks for farmers, advisors, and policymakers

This approach helps answer concrete questions such as which digital solutions work best, for which farms, and under which conditions.

Why This Collaboration Matters

The collaboration between Farmtopia and QuantiFarm connects hands-on implementation with robust impact assessment, strengthening both projects’ results and relevance.

Key benefits of the collaboration include:

  • Linking practice and measurement
Farmtopia’s pilot-tested digital solutions and Sustainable Innovation Pilots provide real-life use cases that come in line directly with QuantiFarm’s assessment framework.
  • Clearer evidence for farmers
Combining and sharing on-farm experience with quantified results allows farmers to better understand expected costs, benefits, and risks before investing in digital tools.
  • Stronger advisory and policy relevance
Evidence generated through both projects strengthens the policy and advisory value of results, supporting more targeted, data-driven measures for digitalisation in agriculture.
  • Shared methods and indicators
The exchange of assessment approaches, indicators, and lessons learned improves consistency, comparability, and quality of results across both projects.
  • Greater efficiency and impact
By aligning activities and sharing knowledge, Farmtopia and QuantiFarm avoid duplication and maximise the use of resources, while amplifying their overall impact.

Building a More Evidence-Based Digital Transition

Together, Farmtopia and QuantiFarm support a more transparent and evidence-based digital transition in agriculture – one grounded in real farm conditions, measurable sustainability outcomes, and practical decision support.
This collaboration shows how Horizon Europe projects can amplify their impact by working together, connecting innovation, evaluation, and on-farm practice to deliver tangible benefits for European farmers and food systems.
