Sharing Farmtopia’s ADSs Co-Development Model with Global Institutions

On April 9, 2025, the Farmtopia project hosted a dedicated webinar to present its co-development approach for Agricultural Digital Solutions (ADSs) and share early insights for implementation. The online event drew participation from representatives of the World Bank, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), and the Turkish Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.

Webinar: Introducing Farmtopia’s Diligent Approach

The webinar offered participants an overview of the project’s co-development framework, which places farmers at the centre of the innovation process. By facilitating collaboration between farmers, technology providers, and other stakeholders, Farmtopia aims to deliver practical, affordable digital solutions tailored to real-world needs.

The session included a focused exchange on the project’s focus and implementation experience, with strong engagement and discussion among participants. It also served as a first step in building dialogue with key institutions interested in the project’s outcomes and approach. The Turkish Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has expressed interest in integrating Farmtopia’s model into future initiatives and calls.

The session began with an intro to the Farmtopia project by the Project Coordinator Dionysios Solomos, followed by a presentation of Farmtopia software services by Odysseas Sekkas. Then, the focus shifted to the Sustainable Innovation Pilots (SIPs). Out of 9 current SIPs within Farmtopia, two were presented. Tania Demirtzioglou presented SIP1Supporting smallholder organic avocado farmers through a Smart Farming Solution (Greece), with Tomaz Bokan presenting SIP5Supporting Arable farming of Cereals & oilseed crops to optimize use of resources (Slovenia). Before the closing of the webinar with the Q&A section, Dionysios Solomos presented the flagship project “Digital Transformation of the Agricultural Sector in Greece”.

Farmtopia’s Co-development Model Gains Recognition

Through this event, Farmtopia was able to share its experience and methodology with global and national institutions engaged in shaping the digital future of agriculture. The interest shown by the World Bank and the Turkish Ministry is a promising signal that Farmtopia’s farmer-first, collaborative model resonates beyond the project itself.

The project will continue to engage in such exchanges, contributing to a broader movement toward inclusive and accessible digital farming across Europe and beyond. For more similar news, follow farmtopia.eu
